Thoughts & Inspiration

So, in my last blog I talked about how, after Israel, it was time for a new dream.

I had no idea God was actually going to use Israel to call me into a new season, but that’s what happened.

It started as just a suggestion from a trusted friend, who knew that my original dream when it came to missions was to use writing and missions while living on the field.

I wasn’t too receptive to it, because I feel like I’ve been given so much at Adventures. I’m in such a cool season where I am learning so much and am possibly more inspired than I have ever been. And the programs I advocate for have seen their numbers go up—meaning what I’m doing is working well!

Yet, I couldn’t shake that friend’s suggestion, so I began to pray about it and wrap my head around the concept of choosing to leave… well, everything: my job, organization, family, poodle (because she deserves her own category), and maybe even my home and my church. I was pretty sure there was nothing out there, so it wasn’t going to be a big deal. To prove it to her, I started looking.

And instead, I found an organization with 79 communications positions.

There were so many because this organization (Operation Mobilization) has communications positions all over the world, in every country they are based in.

About 15-20 of those jobs I qualified for, and there was a handful I was interested in. The first one was, “Come, tell the story of what God is doing in Argentina”.

It took me awhile to get up the courage to apply, but I did. And a few weeks ago, I got the good news: I was accepted to the communications position in Argentina!

In February, I will be moving to Buenos Aires, Argentina, where I will serve for 2 years!

My job will be to literally tell the story of what God is doing in Argentina. I’ll also serve with local ministries, and work on writing projects within the greater Latin American network of OM. Finally, I’ll also speak at missions conferences within the country.

Needless to say… this summer has been a bit crazy!

Right now it really doesn’t feel real. I am really excited… yet I know leaving will be really hard. But I’m so thankful to have a season I’m sad to leave. There’s so much to thank God for!

It’s been 11 years since I went on my first Real Life trip to Swaziland with Adventures in 2006. That trip literally changed my life. The next summer, I came back and led 3 in a row as a leader over the course of the next year (2007-2008), then I came on staff in 2009. That means I’ve been on staff for (almost) 8 years… the past 3 of which have been in Marketing.

I am so thankful for the time I’ve had here at Adventures and for all God has done. It’s going to take a while to process it all. My last day is scheduled for August 15, 2017. And before that, I’m going on one last trip: leading a youth group trip to Haiti at the end of July.

I want to thank everyone who has supported me, given financially, and prayed for me in these 11 years. God used you in such incredible ways throughout the nations!

What this means as far as financial support:

My role with Operation Mobilization will be 100% support raised. I will need to raise around $2300/month (budget is still being finalized).

This will cover everything from rent, utilities, internet, food, and transportation, to health insurance, ministry costs, emergency fund, admin fees and taxes, etc.

In addition, I will have start up costs of $5600 to cover trainings, start up expenses, opening housing, language study, flight, visa, etc.

So I’m asking everyone reading this to pray about supporting me, not only in prayer but financially as well.

In order to go in February, I need to have enough in funds raised or proof of monthly commitments to cover the cost of 2 years (and start up costs) by December 4, 2017.

Online donations can be given at www.omusa.org/give. If you type in my name, it pops up.

In addition, anyone currently giving towards my fundraising at Adventures would need to stop their support manually by logging into their account and ceasing the donation.

If you would like to give by check, you can send it to:

           Operation Mobilization

           P.O. Box 444

           Tyrone, GA 30290

*Please put my name in the memo. OM asks that anyone giving by check include a note stating whether it is for a monthly gift or a special gift. This is so they know how to calculate it towards the monthly support commitments. Online gifts will automatically ask that question.

That’s all for now!

I will have more information in the future (including information on Argentina, Operation Mobilization, and what I will be doing, but for now, I’m going to close this blog. Thank you everyone for reading and supporting me over the years.

There is so much more to come!
